The cemetery on the Protschenberg (Upper Sorbian Hrodźiško) was consecrated in 1789 and received a chapel in 1884. In 1922 the village Seidau with the Protschenberg was incorporated into Bautzen. The cemetery is a burial place for Seidau and surrounding villages and is still in use today. It is completely surrounded by a wall, on the inside of which many old graves can be found. At the portal of the cemetery there are many names of fallen soldiers. Three important Sorbs found their resting place here: Jan Arnošt Smoler, Dr. Rudolf Jenč and Jurij Winar. Furthermore Marko Smoler and Jan Cyž.
