Description
This is a Black cemetery on the hill behind the Elmwood home at the North end of Union and it has beautiful views of the valley. The cemetery was begun as a burying ground for slaves under the ownership of Hugh Caperton. Many plots are vacant, unknown or unmarked. However, this is still an active cemetery. Currently, there is an active fundraising effort underway to preserve the cemetery. See the Elmwood house for details.
